The Project
Practice Theory created Sans Everything, an exhibition showcase and tongue-in-cheek merchandise collection launched at Singapore Design Week to demonstrate the real-world utility of our custom typeface, Practice Sans.

The Brief
Typeface launches frequently remain confined to digital specimen sheets, rendering letterforms as detached technical exercises rather than tactile tools. To mark the public release of Practice Sans, we set out to bridge the gap between digital typography and everyday material culture. The challenge lay in creating an appealing entry point for both designers and the general public alike.

The Approach
We conceptualised the release around the proposition of "Type in practice", turning everyday functional objects into self-aware typographic canvases. Each item was conceived as a playful physical test of how Practice Sans behaves across varied scales, materials, and production constraints. Bundling tiered font downloads with physical purchases reinforced our studio ethos that typography should remain practical, usable, and widely accessible.

Agency Shirt
A shirt made by and for those navigating agency life with just enough agency. With a front that’s open to interpretation and Mango winding through a bookshelf of creative clichés on the back.

Everything Ruler
A ruler that covers all the bases. Type weight, point size, inches, centimeters. Because everything in design eventually turns into a measuring contest.

A Notebook for Everything and Nothing
A blank canvas for everything: ideas, notes, doodles, even your next typeface. As versatile as Practice Sans with arrows as an homage by The Designers Republic™ that works in every orientation (or none).

Medium Pencil
Just a perfectly ordinary medium 2B pencil, except it’s typeset in Practice Sans. Use it for writing, sketching, or leaving passive aggressive notes.

Freshly Kerned Tote
For those who kern their type as carefully as they pick their bananas. A ludicrously capacious tote designed in Practice Sans. For groceries, books, or whatever fits your practice.

By Left or By Right Socks
An entirely pointless display of Practice Sans on a pair of almost identical socks labeled Left and Right. If worn correctly, the text faces inward, visible only to you. When worn for others to see, the labels are on the wrong feet.

Helveticap
A tongue-in-cheek tribute to the ultimate graphic designer typeface: Helvetica. Practice Sans looks and shares the same roots but brings its own subtleties to the surface. Designed with a wink and a nod for those who know.

Font Specimen
A printed specimen book showing Practice Sans across styles, contexts, and uses. For type nerds and normal people alike.

The Execution
The collection spans apparel, measuring tools, stationery, and everyday carry, featuring witty inside commentary on studio life alongside references to graphic design history. We engineered items ranging from the dual-scale Everything Ruler and an agency-critique shirt to the Helveticap and an expansive printed font specimen. Exhibited on-site at Singapore Design Week and retailed online, the items use tactile screen printing, embroidery, and distinct packaging to showcase the font's versatility in the wild.

What did we deliver?

  • Object and merchandise design: Conceptualised a cohesive collection of functional everyday products testing typographic scale across textiles, wood, metal, and canvas.
  • Print and packaging design: Produced a printed font specimen book, custom product packaging, and tiered digital distribution vouchers.
  • Exhibition and spatial experience: Designed the on-site retail pop-up and environmental display for Singapore Design Week.

The Impact
Sans Everything transformed a digital type launch into a celebrated cultural moment, engaging design practitioners and design-literate consumers across physical touchpoints. By marrying utility with humour, the collection successfully positioned Practice Sans as an approachable workhorse typeface rooted in contemporary design practice.
