Ommer is a fiat-to-cryptocurrency exchange platform that allows anyone to own virtual currencies with their mobile phones in under 5 minutes. The Ommer name was coined as a tribute to the Ethereum blockchain, upon which the tokens of the Ommer platform were developed.
Working closely with its co-founders, Practice Theory crafted a proposition we believed both internal stakeholders and consumers could both subscribe to—‘anyone can buy or sell a coin’. This ethos would inform all aspects of the brand’s identity, from the thought process behind the app development to its social media service and response channels.
We also developed the visual identity that was applied across various physical and digital touch points. At the heart of this identity was the forward slash, a graphic symbol internationally used to indicate currency pairs and exchange rate, which also encapsulated Ommer’s brand values of trust, security and connecting people. Simple enough to serve as an in-app gesture, the slash further allowed the platform to own and reinforce its visual language.
The final body of work was compiled into a compressive set of design guidelines that included various communication templates, typographic styles, the tone of voice and art direction for the imagery.
